The State Commissioner of Elections, Ilirjan Celibashi, has sent the SP mayor of Libohova Municipality, Leonard Hide, to the General Prosecutor's Office for in-depth investigation.

According to the announcement of the CEC, PD denounced two months ago that there are "suspicions that during the time he was the head of the Crimes section at the Gjirokastra Police Station, he allowed the cultivation of narcotic plants for profit".

For this candidate on 31.03.2023, a self-declaration form was filed with the CEC, which was registered with no. unique GJR-PS-13983. In the framework of the preliminary verification of the candidacy conditions of this candidate, according to the definition of law no. 138/2015 "On guaranteeing the integrity of persons who are elected, appointed or exercise public functions", as well as decision no. 17/2016 of the Assembly, the CEC has requested information from the office of the judicial situation, at the General Directorate of Prisons (DPB). In response to this request of the CEC, the DPB informs that the candidate in question has not been convicted by a final criminal decision.

From the verification of the data in the self-declaration form of Mr. Leonard Vyrtyt Hide, it turns out that he did not declare any data related to the provisions for prohibitions in the law no. 138/2015. Electoral entity "Democratic Party of Albania" by letter no. 1297, dated 16.05.2024 informs the CEC that Mr. Leonard Vyrtyt Hide was investigated by SPAK and sent for trial to the Special Court.. "because it is suspected that during the time when he was the head of the Crimes Section at the Gjirokastra Police Station, he allowed the cultivation of narcotic plants for profit".

(Based on this information, the CEC considers that it is necessary to obtain additional information regarding the facts and circumstances presented. Referring to Article 8, point 1, of Law No. 138/2015 "To guarantee the Integrity of the persons who are elected, appointed or exercise public functions", Chapter V, point 3, letter "b/ii)", of decision no. 17/2016 of the Assembly, "For the determination of detailed rules on the implementation of the prohibitions provided for in law no. 138/2015, it is the General Prosecutor's Office, the Directorate of Institutional Coordination, the Decriminalization Sector, which performs the full verification of the statements made .
