The Electoral College of the upcoming elections is decided by lot

The public lottery procedure held in the "Police of Justice" building selected the new judicial body with a 4-year mandate, which will start with the trial of the nearest election process, that of the parliamentary elections held in the spring of next year.

At the end of the draw, the judges of this group will be; Ornela Naqellari, Alma Kodraliu, Iliba Bezati, Entela Shedula, Enkel Peza, Rexhep Bekteshi, Artan Çupi and Lutfie Celami.

After this procedure, the Supreme Judicial Council announced that on Monday at the next meeting it approved the election of 8 new members of the college.

This judicial body is set up and operates based on special articles of the Electoral Code, which provides that it is the last level of appeal by parties or candidates against the decisions of the Central Electoral Commission.

The judges who make up the Electoral College must come, according to the law, from the ranks of judges who have successfully passed, with a final decision, the process of transitional re-evaluation of judges, from courts of first instance, courts of appeal, administrative courts of first instance and the Tirana Administrative Court of Appeal.

Judges of the Court against Organized Crime and Corruption are excluded from the draw.

For the work of this body, the working premises are assigned to the Administrative Court of Appeal and the judicial body is called to duty whenever appeals against the decisions of the CEC are filed with this court.

The law provides that the collegium shall be called to office no later than 50 days before the elections and shall remain convened until the end of the adjudication of appeals or the expiry of the appeal deadlines for the relevant electoral process. Reporter.al
