Although Ukraine won "Eurovision" last year, unlike the tradition of the festival, it will not take place in the winning country, but in the United Kingdom. This is because of the war in Ukraine.
This year the European festival comes with the slogan "United by Music". The BBC has published a promo for the festival which reflects its origins, which was originally created as an experiment to unite Europe.
Thus, the flags of Ukraine and the United Kingdom were used as inspiration for the color scheme.
The semi-finals on May 9 and 11 will see 31 contestants of which only 20 will qualify for the grand final on May 13.
The United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany and Italy automatically qualify for the finals because they pay their broadcasters to take part. Ukraine will also go straight to the final as the 2022 winner.
