Ferry burning in Corfu, five of the 11 missing people are found alive

Five of the 11 missing people aboard the 'Euroferry Olympia' ferry are still alive this morning in Corfu.

Greek media suggest that the authorities continue the search for 6 other missing persons.

The fire at Euroferry Olympia, owned by the Italian company Grimaldi, fell at 4:12 local time on Friday. He was sailing across the Ionian Sea to the Italian port of Brindisi with 288 people on board.

The Greek Coast Guard said 278 people had been rescued, including one person who was not on the official passenger list. The causes of the fire are still unknown and investigations have begun.

One passenger said they "were asleep when it was reported that a fire had broken out".
