The Durrës Court has ordered security measures for three employees of the Albanian Post of Durrës, accused of abuse of office and theft of pension money.

The court has imposed "Prison Arrest" for the former Post Office director, Elisabeta Mataj, "House Arrest" for Valbona Duni, and "House Arrest" for Paola Danaj.

Elisabeta Mataj, who was dismissed a few days ago from the position of director of the Albanian Post branch in Durrës, finance chief Valbona Doni and treasurer Paola Dana were arrested by the police after a complaint and investigations were launched for the abuse of millions of lek with the institution's funds.

The investigations suspect that, during the months of April and May 2026, these citizens embezzled the amount of 69 million new lek, which was planned to be collected from the Durrës branch of the Albanian Post, for the Shijak and Krujë branches, with the aim of distributing pensions and social assistance to the citizens of these areas.
