Jude Bellingham has responded to rumours of a clash with Lionel Messi during the 2026 World Cup semi-final between England and Argentina.

The English midfielder has denied any tension with the Argentine captain, explaining that the widely commented episode in the media was simply a normal moment in a very intense match.

According to Bellingham, he and Messi only discussed an interception during the game, without there being any argument or conflict between them.

"We were talking about a shot where there was a little bit of contact. There was nothing wrong ," the England star declared.

The Real Madrid player added that he expects the situation to receive more media attention, but insisted that there is no story to discuss.

"I'm sure some will exaggerate this episode, but for me there was nothing ," he said.

At the same time, Bellingham took the opportunity to praise Messi, describing the encounter with him as a special moment in his career.

"For me it was a privilege to play opposite Leo ," said the England midfielder.
