Spiropali doesn't stop criticizing Rama: Let's respond to citizens

Former Foreign Minister, Elisa Spiropali, has submitted to the General Assembly of the Socialist Party her motion to open the debate on a "new agreement for Albania", articulating a series of demands for more democracy, representation and social justice.

In a statement to the media before the plenary session, Spiropali emphasized that the document should not be seen as a personal initiative, but as an open platform for all members of the Socialist Party.

"I kept my promise and just submitted to the General Assembly of the Socialist Party the motion to open the debate on the new agreement for Albania. It is not just my document, it is open to all members of the Socialist Party. I have addressed it to Rama, the General Assembly and every member. An agreement for Albania cannot be drafted by one or two individuals, but must express the will of the party and society ," she declared.

Spiropali argued that citizens expect more from politics and that the Socialist Party must show willingness to respond to demands for change, especially those coming from young people.

"We need more democracy, representation, social justice and a fairer relationship between the state and the citizen. The young people, who are at the forefront of demands for change, are the ones who expect the most from us. I am confident that the majority and the Socialist Party have all the opportunities to respond to these demands ," she said.

But the part that attracted the most attention was her message about how the government should communicate with citizens, a statement that was interpreted as a direct "stab" at Prime Minister Edi Rama.

"This is not an attempt for faction, nor for division or discord, but for the unification of all progressive energies of the Socialist Party and society. We must respond to citizens not with arrogance, but with humility, by listening to and institutionally channeling their demands ," said Spiropali.
