The civic uprising demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the removal of the government has entered its 47th day today.

As the Assembly convenes for its next plenary session, numerous police forces have been deployed around the perimeter of Parliament, although there are no protesters in the area.

Police officers, as well as water tankers, have been deployed in the courtyard in front of the Parliament building, as part of security measures for the session.

The increased presence of law enforcement comes after the protest held in front of Parliament during one of the previous sessions, where citizens demanded the government's resignation.

That protest was accompanied by clashes between demonstrators and police, who used tear gas and arrested 19 protesters. All of them were later released by court order.
