Ilir Panda withdraws from Veliaj's case, who was appointed rapporteur in

Ilir Panda has resigned as rapporteur of the Erion Veliaj case at the High Court. Sandër Simoni has been appointed in his place, and the names of the other two members of the judicial trio are expected to be added.

The High Court will review Veliaj's request for a prison sentence, requesting his immediate release and a substantive examination of his claims.

Erion Veliaj has been in custody since February 10, 2025. He is accused of committing the criminal offense of "Passive corruption of high-ranking state officials or local elected officials", committed in collaboration (9 times) and "Laundering the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity".

The investigations, according to SPAK, are related to several suspected episodes of corruption and irregular benefits, which allegedly involved companies that received construction permits or public funds from the Municipality of Tirana.
