Field measures and investigations continue to prevent arson, as well as to identify and arrest citizens who start or attempt to start fires, damaging land, vegetation, fruit trees, property, health and lives of citizens.

During the last 24 hours, 2 citizens have been identified and arrested in flagrante delicto, while 1 other has been processed at large, suspected of being the perpetrators of 3 arson attacks in Kavajë, Vora and Mallakastër.

During the month of June and the first two weeks of July 2026, 29 citizens suspected of arson were arrested/prosecuted.

As a result of rapid investigations and operational actions carried out by the State Police structures in the regions, with the objective of bringing the perpetrators of the arson to criminal responsibility, 3 suspected perpetrators were identified in Kavajë, Vora and Mallakastër.

Specifically:

The services of the Kavaja Police Commissariat arrested citizen S. Ç., 51 years old, resident of the village of Sterbeg, after, as a result of the fire that broke out on the surface of the land owned by him, pastures in this village and 300 trees (citrus and olive trees) were damaged.

The services of the Vora Police Commissariat arrested citizen AD, 43 years old, resident of the village of Gjokaj, after, as a result of a fire that started on the surface of land owned by another citizen, an area of land in this village, planted with fruit trees, was burned.

The Mallakastra Police Commissariat referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated against citizen OB, 39 years old, resident of the village of Levan, after electrical sparks were caused during the towing of an accident-affected vehicle with the cart he was driving, which spread and burned dozens of walnut trees owned by a citizen, in the village of Roma.

The procedural materials were referred to the competent prosecutor's offices for further action.

The State Police once again appeals to all citizens, farmers and owners or possessors of pastures not to light fires under any circumstances.

The State Police invites citizens to immediately report any citizen who attempts to commit arson, guaranteeing them safe anonymity, immediate response, and action in accordance with the law.
