"The charges are aggravated", Kaso to SPAK head: Why don't you

Democratic Party MP Ivi Kaso has requested explanations from SPAK regarding the case of former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, raising the question of why the Special Prosecution Office has not addressed the Assembly again to lift her immunity, following the aggravation of her criminal position.

During the meeting of the Committee for Civic Initiatives, Cooperation and Institutional Oversight, where the head of SPAK was also present, Kaso said that the investigations against Balluk now include more serious charges, beyond violating equality in tenders, citing suspicions of corruption and money laundering.

According to the Democratic MP, the majority in the Assembly rejected the first request for lifting immunity, justifying that it was related only to a specific accusation, while according to him, the situation has now changed.

"The Assembly hid behind its finger, saying that for this accusation we will not proceed to lift his immunity, while for other more serious accusations we can do so ," Kaso declared.

According to him, during the investigation, new elements were added, as other charges were filed against her associates, while assets related to the investigation were also seized, mentioning the seized villa in Dhërmi.

"The position of the former deputy prime minister has been aggravated and despite this, you have still not addressed the Assembly to lift her immunity ," said Kaso, asking to know if this is related to the majority's position or to SPAK's investigation strategy.

He also raised concerns that the Assembly's first rejection may have affected the progress of the investigation, requesting an explanation from the leaders of the Special Prosecution Office.
