World Cup final could break tradition, FIFA considers 25-minute break for

The 2026 World Cup final could bring an unusual twist to the tournament's history, as FIFA is considering extending the break between the two halves beyond the usual time.

According to reports, the highest institution of world football is discussing a pause of up to 25 minutes for the final that will take place at the “New York New Jersey” stadium. The reason is related to the organization of a grand musical show, conceived in the style of the spectacle of the Super Bowl final.

The performance is expected to last around 11 minutes and could include some of the biggest names in the international scene. The list of artists rumored to perform includes Madonna, Shakira and the group BTS, while Justin Bieber, Burna Boy and other world music figures have also been mentioned.

If approved, this decision would constitute an exception to the current IFAB rules, according to which the interval between two halves of a match must not exceed 15 minutes.

A similar precedent was set in the Club World Cup final, where the break was extended to 24 minutes due to musical activity organized during the interval.

The 2026 World Cup final will kick off at 9:00 PM Central European Time and is expected to be accompanied by a spectacular ceremony before the start of the match.
