Argentina knocks England out, secures final with Spain

Argentina overturned England in the final minutes and secured a place in the World Cup final, where they will face Spain in a duel between the two main contenders for the trophy.

The defending champions won 2-1 in the semi-final in Atlanta, overturning the score in the final minutes of the match. In the grand final, the "Albiceleste" will challenge Spain, who the day before eliminated France with a score of 2-0.

The first half was characterized by a high tempo and chances on both goals, but without goals. Argentina came close to the lead in the 39th minute, when Enzo Fernandez tried a powerful shot from distance, but the ball ended up just over the crossbar. During the first half, Lisandro Martinez and Elliot Anderson were punished with yellow cards.

At the start of the second half, Julian Alvarez tested goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who reacted successfully.

However, it was England who took the lead first. In the 55th minute, Morgan Rogers curled a shot into the area, and Anthony Gordon escaped the defensive cover to score for 1-0.

After the goal, Argentina took control of the game and intensified their attacks. Pickford made another crucial save from a Nicolas Gonzalez header, while Alexis Mac Allister hit the post, signaling that an equalizer was only a matter of time.

The long-awaited goal came in the 85th minute. Lionel Messi served for Enzo Fernandez, who with a precise shot from inside the area beat Pickford and restored balance to the score.

Just when it looked like everything was heading towards extra time, Argentina struck again. In the second minute of added time, Messi curled a perfect cross into the area, while Lautaro Martinez headed in the winning goal, sealing the score at 2-1.

With this success, Argentina secures its second consecutive World Cup final and will have the opportunity to defend the title against Spain, in a final that is expected to be one of the most spectacular in recent years.
