Another case of illegal immigration was recorded off the coast of Vlora, where a dinghy with 11 foreign nationals was left in difficulty at sea.

According to the Border Police, around the early hours of the morning, a report was received of a small floating craft located about eight miles from the mouth of the Vjosa River. Two Border Police vessels immediately headed to the area, located the dinghy and rescued all persons on board.

According to preliminary data, the immigrants are 5 citizens from Bangladesh, 3 from Pakistan, 1 from Afghanistan, 1 from Haiti and 1 from Liberia.

All have been transported to the ground and are located at the premises of the Vlora Local Police Directorate, where the relevant procedures are being carried out.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the destination of the dinghy or whether the migrants intended to cross illegally to Italy. This is expected to be clarified after their questioning and further investigations.
