Vučić's minister spoke about ethnic cleansing, Ferit Hoxha appears

The shocking statement of Serbian Minister Snezhana Paunovic, who said that if she were in Slobodan Milosevic's place she would have "ethnically cleansed Kosovo", does not seem to have bothered Albanian Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha at all, who appeared smiling at the meeting with his Serbian counterpart, Marko Djuric, on the sidelines of the Washington Ministerial.

Although official Tirana reacted only after the statement had caused numerous international reactions, the Albanian minister was content with a statement on social networks, while in practice he chose to continue the diplomatic agenda normally with the representative of the Serbian government, without any sign of political distance from the rhetoric that has shocked public opinion.

The photos of the meeting, accompanied by handshakes and smiles, seem to have been simply formal about the message conveyed by Albanian diplomacy at a time when a minister in Aleksandar Vučić's cabinet publicly justified the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo Albanians.

"I reiterated Albania's clear and firm position regarding the unacceptable and irresponsible statements recently made by a member of the Serbian Government, and stressed the need to unequivocally reject rhetoric that incites tensions, undermines regional stability and cooperation, and contradicts the spirit of good neighborly relations and European values ," the minister wrote in a post on the social network X, during the meeting with Marko Djuric.

Prime Minister Edi Rama also chose not to directly comment on the Serbian minister's statement.

In his public reactions, he focused on criticism of political opponents, without devoting a single line to the statement that was condemned by the European Union and distanced from even the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vučić.
