Prices rose by 3.2% in June, the main effect coming from food and entertainment.

Inflation measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) in June 2026 is 3.2%, according to the latest INSTAT publication.

Even according to the earliest INSTAT publication, prices increased by 3.2%.

In contrast to INSTAT, according to the harmonized index, the greatest impact on price increases was provided by food, and the second element is entertainment. While according to INSTAT, the second factor with the greatest impact was rent, water, and energy.

According to the latest publication, the main contribution to the annual price increase in June was made by the group "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" with +1.02 percentage points, with an annual increase of 2.9%, followed by the group "Entertainment, sports and culture", with a contribution of +0.65 percentage points and an annual increase of 10.2%.

“Restaurants and accommodation services” with a contribution of +0.56 percentage points and an annual growth of 3.9%, “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” with a contribution of +0.25 percentage points and an annual growth of 4.9%, “Transportation” with a contribution of +0.16 percentage points and an annual growth of 1.9%, “Educational services” with a contribution of +0.15 percentage points and an annual growth of 3.3%, “Personal care, social protection and various goods and services” with a contribution of +0.12 percentage points and an annual growth of 3.8%, “Health” with a contribution of +0.10 percentage points and an annual growth of 1.9%, etc.

In June 2026, consumer prices decreased by 0.1%, compared to the previous month. The monthly decrease was mainly influenced by the decrease in prices of the “Transport” group by 2.1%, followed by the “Rent, water, electricity, gas and other fuels” groups by 0.8%, “Furniture, household equipment and home maintenance” by 0.6%, “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” and “Clothing and footwear” by 0.5% each. On the other hand, the prices of the “Entertainment, sports and culture” group increased by 3.2%, followed by the “Educational services” groups by 0.7%, “Health” and “Restaurants and accommodation services” by 0.5% each, etc.

According to Eurostat, the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) measures the change in the level of retail prices of goods and services from the point of view of the structure of expenditures that consumers (domestic and foreign) intend for final consumption in the territory of Albania.

The HICP is used to monitor the movement of retail prices in European countries, comparing the inflation rate between European countries and as the official inflation of the European Central Bank, ensuring price stability in the Economic and Monetary Union. Monitor
