Albania has nothing to sell, under Rama's leadership it no longer produces

Irena Beqiraj
Very angry, restless, the Prime Minister asks what Albania can sell to ensure prosperity......
He has the right to be angry and to shout, even to mock himself, because apart from the scepters, eagles, or flags we have nothing to sell except the country, because the economy that this Prime Minister created does not produce anything.
And while in the 13 years that he has been in power he has ensured us "prosperity" with all sorts of economic maneuvers such as PPP, strategic investments, fiscal amnesty, Renaissance 1.0 and then 2.0, he has boasted to us about the high salaries even comparable to Greece of waiters and cleaners, he has never found the courage or strength to talk about the engine of economic development, production.
He has the right to get angry. Today we have nothing to sell because we do not produce. We are dependent on imports because we do not produce. We cannot offer quality employment because we do not produce. We do not even create or disseminate knowledge because we do not produce. We do not have a sustainable economy and therefore no well-being precisely because we do not produce.
“Sustainability” means the ability to meet current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
The manufacturing sector is also essential in ensuring “sustainability”. Industrial production is not only a growth engine for developing countries, but moreover, it has been proven that it is the necessary pillar to ensure economic growth in difficult times.
Production, in addition to increasing levels of competition, increasing productivity, providing quality employment with high wages, provides close links with other segments of the economy. But production is also important in another aspect. Production processes often rely on inputs from other sectors, which progress with the progress of the manufacturing industry. In this way, production provides the function of a carrier of services that cannot be sold or exported without being incorporated into a final product. Meanwhile, manufacturing is the main source of research, development and innovation activities so important in times of technological transformation. Moreover, without a healthy manufacturing industry, it is difficult to balance the trade balance; it is impossible to create high-paying jobs for different skill levels; while with technological developments, manufacturing and services will become increasingly inseparable and complementary.
Meanwhile, more than five decades of world trade liberalization clearly showed that countries that lagged behind in industrialization, or worse experienced continuous deindustrialization and that removed resources, land, labor, capital from the manufacturing sector, remained underdeveloped.
So today, in order not to sell Albania, we do not need facade make-up, we need functional policies supported by substantial budgetary funds that address the increase in supply in the economy through the fulfillment of 4 objectives:
1) Strengthening the existing production sector by: neutralizing the effects of the overvaluation of the lek; by developing new directions, such as the development of the value chain, in textiles, agro-processing, and light industry. In the meantime, it is necessary to create an Intermediate Investment Fund which should serve as a co-financier for the preparation and implementation of technological development projects.
2) Promoting exports, including not only the possibility of expanding the current export base but at the same time expanding investments for new markets and new products. The acquisition of new markets, increased sales, increased competition in new markets, increased number of export-oriented enterprises, support and internationalization through the achievement of standards, as well as the integration of export information sources and their dissemination are key to stimulating exporters.
3) Increasing productivity, technology transfer and innovation. This requires the creation of a National Office for Technology Transfer which should serve as a liaison between firms, universities, public research laboratories, government agencies and financial institutions. The lack of this interaction removes or increases the distance of cooperation between these actors, leaving them isolated and uncooperative, hindering technological transformation and innovation.
4) Creating a productive sector that creates and disseminates knowledge. The failure to create and disseminate knowledge occurs because we have not understood that knowledge is produced in the economy (distributed and improved in universities) and, moreover, we have never considered knowledge as a public good. Therefore, it is important for the government to support the development and strengthening of the technological and research sectors, the professional and practical training of newly employed people, as well as the provision of international technical expertise for domestic companies.
Of course, this is a difficult exercise for any government, but the worst thing is that for the GOVERNMENT of the renaissance of casino facades and concerts is impossible.
Therefore, convinced and angry about this impossibility, he shouts that he has nothing to sell except Albania.
