A photograph taken 19 years ago has returned to the spotlight on the eve of the World Cup final between Argentina and Spain.

During an event organized by FIFA at "Fan Fest", Lionel Messi was asked about the now iconic image, where he holds a baby in his arms, who is today one of the biggest stars in world football, Lamine Yamal.

The photo was taken for a charity calendar, many years before Yamal began his career, and today the two will face off as rivals in the World Cup final.

"It's something incredible. Life surprises you. I took a photo with him when he was just a baby and now we're going to play against each other in the World Cup final. However, we will do our best so that he doesn't have his best day, even though it's very difficult ," Messi said.

The Argentina captain did not spare praise for the Spanish talent, calling Yamal an extraordinary footballer.
