Experts: Rich states fail to donate anti-Covid vaccines to countries in need

A panel of independent experts monitoring the world response to the Covid-19 pandemic has said that rich countries have not done enough to donate vaccines to poor countries where they are most needed, as the Delta variant sparks a new wave in it. all the world.

In May, the Independent Pandemic Preparedness and Response Panel (IPPPR) called for the redistribution of one billion doses of coronavirus vaccine from high-income countries to meet the needs of low- and middle-income countries up to September, as well as another billion by mid-2022.

"The world is far from achieving these goals," Helen Clark, co-chair of IPPPR at the United Nations General Assembly, told a news conference Wednesday. "Some commitments have been made, but much more needs to be done, and it can be done urgently," she added.

The pandemic has worsened since IPPPR published its report and the Delta variant is increasing coronavirus cases worldwide. The health systems of some countries are on the verge of collapse, while the number of victims is increasing.
