"He was my student"/ The first lady of France confesses her romance with Macron: I waited 10 years to get married

"He was my student"/ The first lady of France confesses her romance

The First Lady of France, Brigitte Macron, has given an interview without gloves regarding the relationship with the French president, 25 years younger.

The 70-year-old explained that she put off marrying Macron for nearly a decade because she was afraid it would destroy the lives of her children, who are around the same age as her now 45-year-old boyfriend, the interview  said

Macron was 15 when he fell in love with Brigitte, who was already married. Then 40, she taught drama at the Catholic school and her daughter was Macron's classmate.

The "romance" started between them caused a scandal in the province. As a result, Emmanuel Macron's parents sent him to Paris to attend another school, but his desire to be with his teacher and the intention to maintain a relationship with her was too great, reports The Times.

She admitted that at the time she told herself that Emmanuel would meet and fall in love with a woman his own age while in Paris, but it didn't happen.

Brigitte resigned from her job, but, according to her, the only thing that prevented her from officially joining Macron was the opinion of her children, as she did not want to "ruin their lives".

"It took me 10 years. But I didn't want to miss the chance to live happily," she said.
We remind you that Brigitte's son is three years older than Macron and her daughters, 46 and 39 years old today, do not have much difference with the second husband. Brigitte said she did not know what her parents would think of her marrying her former pupil but revealed that her siblings sometimes teased her about rumors of her relationship with Macron.

The couple finally married in 2007, following Brigitte's divorce from her husband Andre-Louis Ozier. The First Lady of France has spoken about her daily life with her husband, something she usually avoids in her interviews. Despite being married for 16 years, Brigitte said Emmanuel Macron still surprises and admires her with his impressive memory and intelligence.

“I've had a lot of smart students in my career and none of them have their own skills. I have always admired him," she said.
The couple enjoy their quiet life at the Élysée Palace, with Brigitte cooking her husband's breakfast and sometimes dinner. While Macron goes about his day with his duties as president, Brigitte is involved in charity projects that often have to do with education.

She says that she is already used to the criticism that is made after so many years in the center of attention and now the comments about her clothes do not bother her at all.
