Pope Francis hospitalized

Pope Francis is being treated at a hospital in Rome for bronchitis and to undergo medical examinations, the Vatican said on Friday.

"This morning, at the end of the audience, Pope Francis will be admitted to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic for some necessary diagnostic tests and to continue in a hospital setting the treatment for bronchitis that is still ongoing ," the Vatican said.

They later confirmed that he was at the facility and that he had canceled his appointments for the next three days.

The pope has made a number of hospital visits in recent years and underwent abdominal surgery in 2023. He has been battling bronchitis in recent weeks and has asked aides to read speeches.
