Prime Minister Edi Rama was the only politician who did not congratulate Switzerland's victory against Serbia and the spectacular performance on the field by Albanians Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri.

In a communication to the media, Rama justified himself by saying that he does not want to promote "ridiculous nationalism". He went on to say that he did not see it as reasonable.
