Rama 'purges' the old SP: MPs with more than one mandate, in open

Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the start of the SP National Assembly, declared that the party will now start preparations for the new elections to be held in 2025.

Rama said that starting from the new electoral code, deputies with more than one mandate will be in open competition, while young people will be part of the closed list.

"Today we open a new chapter of this party. We are heading towards the showdown for a fourth SP mandate, next spring. In 6 months, the new representative team for Albania 2030 should be ready.

Deputies with more than one mandate, without excluding the heads of districts, to be in open competition like everyone else. In the closed list will be few of them with specific tasks.

The main part of the closed list will be deputies with only one mandate and young men and women who will be on this list" , said Rama.

This method was chosen by Rama, apparently to remove from the list of winners those who have been contributing to this party for years and who have often been against the leader's behavior in the government.
