Berisha: Every candidate for MP will have the duty to register 300 immigrants

The DP parliamentary group has gathered at the blue headquarters to discuss the primaries.

The leader of the Democrats, Sali Berisha, declared that starting today, each MP will have the duty to register up to 30 Albanian immigrants in the May 11 elections.

Berisha said that it is now clear that immigrants and the diaspora are also with the DP.

Berisha: First, I want to greet all the leaders, members of the Presidency, and MPs who have engaged in an intensive electoral campaign, mainly with Albanians abroad.

Since it was happening, or will happen for the first time in these elections, of course, I'm not saying that we were prepared for a campaign in Albania and globally, but I think that the adaptation to the demands of the campaign was done quickly.

The truth is that, as promoters of this process that we have been promoting since 2013, Albanians abroad are proving every day that they have faith in the Democratic Party.

Edi Rama, the man who consistently rejected for years the constitutional right of Albanians to exercise their vote, was finally forced to admit after the decision of the Constitutional Court and strong international interventions, that the diaspora movement has its indisputable merits in raising awareness among international opinion for the sanctioning of this right that was denied to them by the Albanian government, like no other government in the region, or beyond.

As expected, the coordinators for the electoral campaign with Albanians abroad were appointed. The main exponent of organized crime, namesake of the Elbasan gang, the Shkodra gang and the Fushë Krujë gang, Taulant Balla. With this appointment, Edi Rama showed the Albanians that their vote will be for the crime gangs, their money laundering, and not for their families, for themselves.

I can say that the campaign of the government, embassies, consulates is almost turned off. Albanians do not want to meet with Edi Rama's representatives, and they routinely refuse, they refuse meetings, they ask them not to organize meetings, they have even organized demonstrations against them, they have chased them away, and this is an extremely important development.

In Albania, it is clearly understood that both emigration and the diaspora are with the DP as a whole, of course, I cannot say this, but in an overwhelming majority.

Now, we are in the almost final phase of this process in emigration and diaspora.

Therefore, today, coinciding with the approval of all procedures for candidates for deputies, I think that in this instruction that we have, which we will discuss, the requirement should be added that every candidate for deputy, starting from today, has the duty to register 300 immigrants.
