Berisha: The DP's greatest national interest is Albania's integration

Leader of the Democratic Party Berisha emphasized that Albania's integration into the European Union is the biggest national priority for the Democratic Party.

He guaranteed that the DP will mobilize every potential and undertake the necessary reforms to achieve this objective.

Berisha emphasized the difference between the DP alternative and the current government, basing integration on merit and the functioning of the rule of law.

He mentioned the period when the DP announced NATO membership and implemented reforms to convince international partners.

BERISHA'S WORD:

Ms. Dani, I guarantee you that for the DP, the greatest national interest is Albania's integration into the EU.

When I say this, I mean that it will mobilize every potential, will adopt every law, will undertake every reform in function of this process.

But, there is an essential difference between our alternative and that of the existing government.

We base this process on merit, the functioning of the rule of law and the market economy.

When we came to power in 2005, we announced NATO membership and initially people ridiculed our commitment.

But we managed to convince every partner and every country with a zero tolerance fight against crime and corruption and with the reforms we undertook, because we prepared the country for NATO membership.

Likewise, with reforms, with the functioning of the market economy and the rule of law, absolutely only on the basis of reforms, we managed to sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement, to liberalize visas.

I unfortunately remember that there were national and international factors against it. Edi Rama and his entourage were sending emails to Brussels saying that they were lifting visas, expect 800,000 Albanians.

So, we achieved everything with merit.

We also managed to receive the recommendation of the candidate's status from the EC, which Edi Rama blocked with three laws in parliament.

So, our practice has worked, it is dignified and it is in the best interest of Albanian citizens.

This practice is based on meeting EU requirements, criteria, and standards, which is in the best interest of Albanian citizens.
