The Tirana Police Directorate announced on Tuesday that it had arrested a 57-year-old protester and had referred to the Prosecutor's Office the three leaders of the Democratic Party, Flamur Noka, Gazmend Bardhi and Ervin Minarolli, after the protest held on Monday evening, where a number of public institutions they were hit with Molotov cocktails and other hard objects.

According to the police announcement, Noka, Bardhi and Minarolli are being processed at large for the criminal offense of "organization and participation in illegal gatherings and demonstrations", while the 57-year-old protester was arrested for hitting police officers and destroying property by fire. .

The police also announced that they had launched proceedings against three other protesters, a 31-year-old man and two minor citizens, who are accused of disturbing public order and peace, destroying property and resisting police officers.

"As a result of the attacks with hard objects, pyrotechnics and Molotov bombs, on the police officers and the buildings of the state institutions, 10 police officers were injured, of which 7 after medical assistance left the apartment, while the other 3 are being treated in the hospital and are out of danger for life," the police announced. During the protest, two other citizens, father and daughter, were also injured, who were allegedly injured by a Molotov bomb. The police stated that their lives were out of danger.

Monday's protest was called by the Democratic Party and was called by it the beginning of civil disobedience, as a response to the state of the country and the imprisonment of the Democratic MP Ervin Salianji. The leaders of the DP also articulated as a goal the creation of a technical government.

The protesters flooded the streets of Tirana, clashed with the police and hit several public institutions, including the headquarters of the Socialist Party, with Molotov cocktails, while the police responded with tear gas.

The route of the protest seemed to be unclear even for the protesters themselves, who first gathered near the Prime Minister's building where they clashed with the police forces and then changed direction several times, approaching public institutions in the center of the capital.
