DP deputy proposes doubling the baby bonus: The number of births has decreased

PD MP, Lindita Metaliaj has proposed doubling the baby bonus from 2025.

In an amendment proposed today in the Assembly, Metaliaj emphasized that due to the policies followed during the last decade with the SP in power, the number of births has decreased significantly.

"Nearly 40% of the population are pensioners. Many factors influence the decline in birth rates. Depopulation has reached 1 million in recent years. Albania is predicted to have the highest drop in births by minus 15%. According to Instat, the number of births has dropped significantly. There are more deaths than births. After SP came to power, there is a decrease in births. From 35 thousand in 2013, the birth rate in a decade is 40%, there is a drastic decrease. 

We demand the doubling of the amount of the baby bonus for 2025 with 8.2 billion. This is how we help families cope with expenses. This is money from the work of Albanians ," said Metaliaj. 

With 60 votes against, Metaliaj's amendment was not voted.
