Kraja: 'Albania reborn', an economic-social drama

Member of the National Council of the Democratic Party, Akil Kraja, has denounced from the blue headquarters the fact that pensions and salaries are not increasing in Albania.

According to Kraja, the country's economy has been taken hostage by crime. Rama's 'reborn Albania', an economic-social drama,' Kraja said during his statement.

Statement by member of the DP National Council, Akil Kraja:

The lowest wages in the region, but also the lowest level of foreign investment absorption. This is Edi Rama's 'reborn Albania', an economic-social drama that is best explained by massive depopulation.

Indicator after indicator, ranking after ranking, the Democratic Party denounces, based on international reports, the tragic decline of the Albanian economy in comparative terms with other Balkan economies.

A recent analysis on the absorption of European investments shows that North Macedonia ranks first in the region with a stock of European investments equal to 29.3% of gross domestic product.

Albania is the penultimate, and leaves behind only Bosnia and Herzegovina, which cannot be compared to the numerous water, mineral and climatic assets of our country. Albania is at the level of European investments, but also beyond, as the report on foreign investments of UNCTAD, the United Nations Organization for Trade and Development, shows that the increase in the annual flow of foreign investments in North Macedonia for 2023 was 42.6%, while in Albania the increase is only 16%. If we compare with 2017, Macedonia has increased the annual flow of foreign investments by 287%, while Albania by only 25%.

Why do European and international investors choose North Macedonia, Serbia, and Kosovo over Albania?

Because the status of strategic investor goes to the spouses of MPs, EncroChat criminals or portanomes from the Persian Gulf. This is the tragic truth. Albanians' salaries and pensions are not increasing because the entire economy is held hostage by corruption, clientelism and organized crime.

The Democratic Party is part of the program that will be made public soon and is committed to increasing foreign investment, protecting Albanian exporters, and a truly competitive economy that will bring prosperity and increased standards for all.
