Italy, 13-year-old Albanian girl dies after serious accident

A tragic accident in Lecco, Italy, has claimed the life of Jennifer Alcani, an Albanian girl just 13 years old. The incident occurred in the early hours of January 10, when the car she was in, driven by a 22-year-old man, crashed into a concrete guardrail on provincial road 72. The fatal collision occurred after the driver, who was traveling at more than 150 km/h, lost control of the vehicle.

Jennifer, who was sleeping in the back seat and wearing a seatbelt, suffered a serious head injury. Despite the efforts of doctors at the Manzoni Hospital in Lecco, she died on January 16, after spending six days in a coma without regaining consciousness.

Investigations revealed that the night before the accident, Jennifer had sneaked out of the house to spend time with two older friends. Bottles of alcohol were found in the car, while a video posted on TikTok shows the final moments before the accident, where the driver is seen driving with the music at full blast.

The 22-year-old driver, who has already been charged with causing serious injury by road traffic, risks facing charges of manslaughter. After the crash, he attempted to leave the emergency room to avoid a breathalyzer test.

Jennifer Alcani, a student at Lecco's Stoppani school, was a girl with unfulfilled dreams who would have turned 14 in April. Her tragedy has shocked the community and raised concerns about risky behavior among young people and a lack of awareness about road safety. Authorities are continuing their investigation to bring justice for this painful loss.
