He threatened Rama, the 62-year-old is sentenced to 1 year in prison; the court

Ivzi Hoxha, 62 years old, was sentenced to one year in prison after being accused of threatening Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The court of Tirana found the 62-year-old man guilty of the criminal offense of "intimidation due to duty". The judge of the case, Kujtim Vranici, stated that due to the shortened trial, Hoxha's sentence was reduced by a third, and in the end, the 62-year-old must serve 8 months in prison.

"I ask for mercy from the court, I feel remorseful" , declared Hoxha in front of the jury.

The prosecutor of the case emphasized that at the beginning of this year, the suspect publicly threatened the prime minister and his son during a live broadcast on "Ora Neës" television. After that, Hoxha was escorted to the police station where he was arrested.

Hoxha claimed that he was stressed because of ownership conflicts with the Municipality, which would invest in buildings on his land. These buildings would go to the victims of the November 26 earthquake.

The Prosecutor's Office of Tirana insists that the prime minister's threat was real not only from the content of the sentences, but from the hatred displayed in this broadcast.
