The Pro-Family Coalition starts collecting signatures, hundreds of citizens sign

The Albanian Pro-Family and Life Coalition has started collecting signatures for the "Pro-Family" petition in Skënderbej Square.

According to the coalition, the petition was prompted by recent events in Tirana, where they mention the ceremony between a same-sex couple on the terrace of the municipality and the proposed bills that hit the family.

So, in another post on Facebook, the coalition has expressed concern about the language of religious hatred that, according to them, has been used in TV shows by members of the LGBT+ community and representatives of civil organizations in recent days.

Full post:

The Albanian Coalition for Family and Life expresses its concern about the language of religious hatred that has been used in recent days in television shows by members of the LGBT+ community and representatives of civil organizations.

These attacks not only create sterotypes against religious communities in Albania, but basically carry hateful language towards communities of faith, religious doctrine and clerics who serve in these communities.

This hate speech constitutes a serious precedent for the breakdown of religious coexistence between religions and arouses tensions in society.

We note that the reason for the language of hatred towards religious communities and inappropriate comparisons have been the recent statements of the religious communities in Albania, which have unanimously expressed themselves in favor of the family and traditional marriage and against same-sex marriages, as well as against the draft law for surrogacy, abortion and sterilization of young people.

The Albanian Pro-Family and Life Coalition calls with concern to the "Alliance against hate speech", composed of:

The People's Advocate, the Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination, the Audiovisual Media Authority and the "Albanian Media Council" Association to take measures against this language of religious hatred, as the language used creates a dangerous precedent for what in Albania is valued as religious harmony .
