Albanian 'Skifter' gang dismantled in Spain, how the two

An international operation led by the Galician Organized Crime Team (UCO), based in the Pontevedra Command, has led to the arrest of two leaders of a group of Albanian robbers, who operated mainly in northern Spain and the Madrid area. The structured group, which used cars with false license plates, carried out a series of robberies in several European cities, including Paris, and managed to steal up to 300 thousand euros during the investigation period.

The investigation, which began in late 2023 after a series of robberies in Galicia, revealed that the bandits had used cars stolen in Italy and carried out 16 robberies in just one month. The gang had drivers, security guards and home-entry specialists among its ranks, and operated with sophisticated methods to avoid detection.

After a lengthy investigation, Spanish authorities discovered that the two main leaders of the group had traveled to Paris to take advantage of the city's robbery opportunities during the Olympic Games. However, the imposition of high security measures in the French capital thwarted their plans.

At the moment, both gang leaders have been arrested and are in custody, awaiting extradition to Spain to appear in court on the charges against them.
