From Lebanon to the Port of Durrës with contraband oil, the Court releases

The Court of Durrës released this Monday from prison 3 of the crew members of the ship "Queen Majeda", which in September last year was caught with 2275 tons of contraband oil.

The prosecution decided to change the security measure from "arrest in prison" to "compulsion to stay in a certain place", specifically on the ship, which is anchored in the port of Durrës.

The arrested have been identified as Zuhair Alkeafi, 54 years old, the ship's captain, Muavid Ali Altabir, 25 years old, Amad Abushala, 43 years old, all three from Libya, and Badr Teezini, 25 years old from Syria.

They are accused of "Smuggling goods for which excise duty is paid", "Storage or deposit of contraband goods" and "Smuggling of the captain, pilot or crew", carried out in cooperation. This measure was changed in mid-March, while investigations continue.

It was the partner services that alerted the Albanian authorities about the ship which was transporting contraband oil.
From preliminary investigations, it appears that this oil was transported by groups that are outside the control of the Libyan government, and formally, the documents accompanying the goods appeared to be in order. But in fact, according to the authorities, they are fake.
