A 46-year-old member of a criminal group was arrested in Kavaje with the intention of extradition to Italy.

The 46-year-old has been given a security measure of "imprisonment" by the Court of Katanzaro for the criminal offense of "Participation in a criminal group, with the aim of drug trafficking".

The criminal group in which the 46-year-old participated is suspected to have trafficked to Italy, significant amounts of narcotics, mainly heroin, during the period 2013-2018.

"Following the police operations for the arrest of wanted citizens, which are carried out within the mega-operation "Rule of Law" and as a result of the exchange of information between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome, the services of the Directorate of the Special Operational Force in The Department of the Criminal Police in the DPPSH organized and finalized the coded operation "Operationalja 5".

During the operation, the Albanian citizen SG, 46 years old, who was declared internationally wanted, was located in Kavajë, captured and provisionally arrested, to be extradited to Italy. The Court of Catanzaro, Italy, on 04.07.2023, assigned the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offense "Participation in a criminal group, for the purpose of drug trafficking", provided by the Italian Criminal Code.

The criminal group in which the 46-year-old participated is suspected to have trafficked to Italy, significant amounts of narcotics, mainly heroin, during the period 2013-2018.

"Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome are collaborating to extradite this citizen ," the police announced.
