The Albanian government closes the Turkish private school "Mehmet Akif Ersoy" after 26 years in Tirana

After 26 years of activity in our country, the Albanian government has decided to close the Turkish college in Tirana "Mehmet Akif Ersoy".

In the decision of the Council of Ministers, the reason for the closure of the private school is not clarified, but it is stated that the educational institution has the obligation to provide each student with the necessary school documentation that will serve for transfer to another institution and return the payments made by parents until the month of September.

DECISION ON CLOSING THE ACTIVITY OF THE PRIVATE PRE-UNIVERSITY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION "MEHMET AKIF ERSOY", WHICH DEVELOPS LEARNING IN FOREIGN LANGUAGES ALSO

In support of Article 100 of the Constitution and Articles 42 and 70 of Law No. 69/2012, "On the pre-university education system in the Republic of Albania", amended, with the proposal of the Minister of Education and Sports, the Council of Ministers

DECIDE:

The closure of the activity of the private pre-university educational institution "Mehmet Akif Ersoy", licensed by decision no. 560, dated 26.8.1996, of the Council of Ministers, "On granting permission for the operation of private educational institutions", for the secondary education level high school, which also conducts teaching in foreign languages.

The private pre-university educational institution "Mehmet Akif Ersoy" has the following obligations:

a) To provide each student with the necessary school documentation, which will serve for his transfer to another institution of pre-university education;

b) To cover all expenses for carrying out the procedures for the transfer of students, pursuant to this decision;

c) Return the payments made (if any) by the student's parent/legal representative for the unfinished part of the schooling, as well as any other unfulfilled obligations that may be owed to the student;

ç) To make available to the local educational institution, responsible for pre-university education, any required information until all the requirements provided for in this decision are met;

d) Të dorëzojë në Arkivin Shtetëror Vendor të gjithë dokumentacionin që disponon, si dhe të paraqesë në institucionin arsimor vendor, përgjegjës për arsimin parauniversitar, një kopje të dokumentacionit dhe të procesverbalit të dorëzimit të tij, sipas afateve të parashikuara në legjislacionin në fuqi.

Institucioni arsimor vendor, përgjegjës për arsimin parauniversitar, nën juridiksionin e të cilit ndodhet shkolla, ka për detyrë:

a) të ngrejë grup pune brenda 3 (tri) ditëve nga hyrja në fuqi e këtij vendimi dhe të marrë masat për mbylljen e veprimtarisë së institucionit arsimor privat parauniversitar “Mehmet Akif Ersoy”;

b) të marrë masat për transferimin e nxënësve në institucione të tjera të arsimit parauniversitar për të gjithë nxënësit e regjistruar në këtë institucion arsimor;

c) to administer the documentation related to the educational activity carried out by this private pre-university educational institution"

In the letter "b", point 1, of decision no. 560, dated 26.8.1996, of the Council of Ministers, "On granting permission for the operation of private educational institutions", the words "... college "Mehmet Akif Ersoy", of the level of secondary education in the city of Tirana...", is repealed.

The Ministry of Education and Sports, the General Directorate of Pre-University Education, the Regional Directorate of Pre-University Education, Durrës, the Local Office of Pre-University Education Tirana, the private pre-university educational institution "Mehmet Akif Ersoy" and the "Gulistan" foundation are charged with the implementation of this decision.

This decision enters into force after publication in the "Official Gazette".
