Two Kosovars are being prosecuted for attempting to smuggle 21,000 undeclared

Two Albanians from Kosovo have been criminally prosecuted after attempting to smuggle 21,000 Swiss francs into Albania without declaring them.

They were traveling towards Albania at the Morina border crossing in a "BMW" vehicle.

"The Border Police Services have increased vigilance to crack down on illegalities at the border. In this context, at the entrance to the Republic of Albania, a "BMW" vehicle with the driver, citizen MS, and the passenger, citizen BG, was taken to the second line for detailed inspection.

During the search, 21,000 Swiss francs were found on these citizens, which they had not declared in accordance with the laws in force. The money was seized as material evidence.

Following the procedural actions in the case, the materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office, where proceedings were initiated in the absence of Kosovar citizens MS, 34 years old, residing in Switzerland, and BG, 33 years old, residing in Kosovo, for the criminal offense "Failure to declare money and valuables at the border" - the police announced.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Kukës, for further action.
