The "Tower of Sali Berisha", located in Viçidol of Tropoja, has been brought to attention again by a KLA soldier, who remembered the time when the chief democrat and his family sheltered the soldier together with his 5 friends.

He says that in this tower they placed weapons and trained for about 2 weeks in the hills and then returned to Kosovo.

" We left to come to Albania for armaments. After 15 hours we arrived in Tropoja. After Barjam Curri we came to Prifç to Sali Berisha's house and placed the armaments in this house. This house has contributed a lot and the Berisha family has a lot of contribution to the war in Kosovo. In the basement of this house we put the weaponry and after 2 weeks of stay here we took the weaponry and made preparations in these hills. We had come here for the supply of weapons and Berisha and his family sheltered us", he says among other things .

During 1999, the tower turned into a base for the Kosovo Liberation Army, somewhat regaining its former vitality.

The permission for its use was given by Berisha himself, who at that time was the chairman of the Democratic Party in the opposition.

For months it was used by KLA soldiers, but then the Serbian genocide spread to Albanian territory and near the 100-year-old stone tower.

Berisha himself has stated from time to time that the tower was destroyed by the shells of the Serbian army during the Kosovo War.
