The co-manager of US President Donald Trump's last election campaign, Chris LaCivita, will also take over the Albanian opposition's campaign for the May 11 political elections.

Mr. LaCivita was introduced on Monday by the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in the presence of leaders and representatives of other opposition parties.

"In selecting Mr. Chris LaCivita to lead the DP's victory campaign, I am sure that the fact that the DP and the Albanian opposition, in the face of blackmail and extraordinary pressures for their disappearance, remained undefeated in defending the values ​​and principles that conservatives share throughout the world, influenced the selection of Mr. LaCivita to lead the DP's victory campaign. And above all, the current program of the DP and the opposition is an excellent program to save Albania," said Mr. Berisha, emphasizing his party's closeness to the Republican Party.

For his part, Mr. LaCivita, describing Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama as a tool of George Soros, said that "you cannot be both a puppet of Soros and a friend of the US, this is not possible. The Soros family has lost its influence in Washington and around the world and Berisha is an old and true friend of the US."

He stated that "we are here today because we want to elect a prime minister who is a true friend of the United States, who will work successfully with President Trump and with the United States."

According to him, "just like the American people, the Albanian people also demand and need more from their government. These similar circumstances are what brought us together, brought us here today, because we know that Berisha can win."

Mr. LaCivita drew parallels between the situation that preceded the election of President Trump and the one in which the opposition in Albania finds itself. “Berisha, like Donald Trump and many members of the opposition, has been unjustly prosecuted and persecuted by a government that does not respect democracy. His allies and opposition leaders are being imprisoned, kept under house arrest and are being intimidated. We are here to help put an end to this,” he declared./ VOA/
