Xherdan Shaqiri says goodbye to the Swiss national team

Xherdan Shaqiri, the attacker of Albanian origin, who is also known as an icon of Swiss football, has publicly announced that he will no longer play for the Swiss national team.

In a post on social networks, Shaqiri announced his retirement and between the lines the footballer expressed his gratitude for the time he spent with the team.

"Seven competitions, many goals, 14 years with the A team of the Swiss national team and unforgettable moments. Time to say goodbye to the national team. The good memories will remain and for that I can say to everyone: Thank you", writes the Albanian footballer.
Shaqiri has passed through all age groups with Switzerland, while the 32-year-old made his debut with the first team of 'Helvetik' on March 3, 2010.
