Protesters surround Parliament outside, plenary session begins

As the civic protest continues for about three hours outside the Albanian Parliament, parliamentary proceedings have begun. 

The agenda for today's session includes the approval of the minutes of the July 23 session, announcements, and consideration of the draft decision on changing the composition of the Assembly's standing committees. This draft decision is expected to be approved by a simple majority of votes.

Meanwhile, outside the Parliament, protesters have surrounded the building and continue to chant against the majority and Prime Minister Edi Rama. Their messages have been accompanied by chants such as "You do not represent", "Parliament of crime" and "Edi Rama, you bastard, all of Albania hates you".

The last plenary session, held on July 23, was accompanied by tensions and strong debates between the opposition and the majority. The clashes began after the rejection of the DP's request to extend the term of the special commission on "Territory".

Then, Democratic MP Luciano Boçi prevented the presentation of the majority report by the committee's co-chair, Arbjan Mazniku, while opposition MPs blocked the floor. The situation caused repeated interruptions of the session.
