He bought products and paid with fake euros, 24-year-old arrested in Durrës

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in flagrante delicto in Durres on suspicion of using counterfeit banknotes to make payments.

The police announce that the operation codenamed "Use" was finalized after a report of a fraud case at a gas station in the village of Sinaballaj, Rrogozhina.

Citizen M. Rr., 24 years old, is suspected of having supplied the vehicle with fuel and having paid with 3 suspected counterfeit 20-euro banknotes.

The 24-year-old was caught red-handed buying products and paying with counterfeit banknotes.

13 20 euro banknotes, suspected to be counterfeit, are seized.

Specialists of the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Section at the Durrës Police Department, in cooperation with the services of the Kavajë Police Commissariat and under the direction of the Prosecution, following a report that a citizen had defrauded at a gas station by using suspected counterfeit euro banknotes to pay for the vehicle's fuel, organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Use".

As a result of rapid investigative actions, it became possible to identify, locate, capture and arrest in flagrante delicto the citizen M. Rr., 24 years old.

Investigations suspect that this citizen, at a gas station in the village of Sinaballaj, Rrogozhina, refueled his vehicle and paid with 3 20 euro banknotes, suspected to be counterfeit.

During the physical search, 10 other 20 euro banknotes, suspected to be counterfeit, were found in his wallet, which were seized as material evidence.

In total, 13 20-euro banknotes, suspected to be counterfeit, were seized.

Investigative actions continue, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, to fully document this criminal activity and to identify other persons who may be involved.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
