The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, appeared this morning at the Administrative Court, where the examination of his lawsuit against SPAK prosecutor, Ols Dado, has begun.

During the hearing, Veliaj's defense spoke out regarding the request of the National Association of Media and Justice to be admitted as a party to the judicial process. Meanwhile, representatives of the High Council of the Prosecutor's Office and the State Bar were absent from the hearing.

In his speech, Veliaj stated that an inequality is being created between the parties in the process and that he has been kept away from his duty and his family for 540 days.

Veliaj : It is evident that an asymmetry is being created. One side is gaining more parties, while the defendants are being removed. On one side, actors with public interest are being added, while on the other side, they are being reduced.

For 540 days, the mayor has been kidnapped from his office and from his family, by a man who is wearing the state uniform, but who has no identity, and he has kidnapped me from my office.

Your role, honorable judge, is to restore citizens' trust in justice. I won two battles in the Constitutional Court, without even going to Strasbourg.

A notary who has not completed his magistracy cannot be a prosecutor. This is no longer a place of scoundrels. Someone cannot wear someone else's uniform and exercise a certain function.

Any party that shows interest contributes to this judgment.

It is the weight of this trial that will restore faith in justice. I miss my family a lot in the most difficult days, I also miss my municipality, which I left differently. Any party that shows interest, contributes to this trial. I would ask you to accept the association.
