Amid protests and tensions in the hall, the last session of the parliamentary

The last plenary session of this parliamentary session took place in a tense atmosphere, with continuous clashes between the opposition and the majority, interruptions of proceedings, and incidents in the Assembly hall.

Opposition MPs blocked the floor for several hours, objecting to the agenda and the way the session was conducted. Despite their protest, the majority continued with an expedited procedure, approving the 31 items on the agenda without debate.

Among the adopted acts were resolutions on the annual reports of independent institutions, such as SPAK, the General Prosecutor's Office, the People's Advocate, the High Prosecutorial Council and the High Judicial Council, as well as several draft laws, amendments and appointments to committees.

The session was interrupted twice due to tensions, while the report on Territorial Reform was approved with 84 votes. The opposition had requested a three-month postponement of the review of this report, but the request was not granted.

Following the incidents, the Democratic Party deputies left the chamber, boycotting the remainder of the voting. Throughout their stay in the Assembly, they protested by blocking the rostrum, hitting tables, and opposing the conduct of the session.

In parallel with the plenary session, a civic protest against the government was held outside the Parliament building, where dozens of protesters gathered to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The rally was accompanied by tensions, as the Police intervened to disperse the protesters, using water cannons and tear gas. Journalists reporting from the field were also affected by the intervention, while there were clashes between police officers and protest participants.

With this meeting, the parliamentary session officially closed, while the Assembly is expected to return to work in September.
