Storm destroys roof of 12-story building in Saranda, four families homeless

The powerful storm that hit Saranda on Tuesday evening caused extensive damage to a 12-story building, where the wooden roof of the top floor was almost completely destroyed, leaving four families homeless.

After the case was published, employees of the Saranda Municipality's Territory Protection Inspectorate arrived at the scene to carry out verifications.

During the inspection, it was found that the building is an early construction and does not have a certificate of ownership. The residents of the damaged apartments only own the order contracts signed with the builder.

The on-site inspection showed that about half of the roof was completely destroyed, while the rest suffered serious damage, making it unsafe for residents.

The Municipality of Saranda is now expected to decide on the measures that will be taken to rehabilitate the facility and resolve the situation of the four affected families.
