The strong storm that hit Saranda last night has caused several injuries and material damage in the city. Three people have received medical assistance in hospital, while others have suffered minor injuries.
According to preliminary information, some of the injured were injured after a pine tree fell on vehicles near the stadium, breaking their windows. Another person was hit by tree branches while riding a motorcycle.
During the night, emergency services removed fallen trees from roads, while power outages were reported in some areas. An electric pole was also knocked down in the port of Limioni, while damage was also recorded in homes and businesses.
Meanwhile, in Himara, a 55-year-old OSHEE employee lost his life during an intervention to repair a defect in the electrical network. The incident occurred at around 03:00, in bad weather conditions that had caused problems with the power supply in several areas. The employee, originally from Elbasan, had been engaged to support local teams in restoring electricity.
