Guardiola in talks to coach Italy

Pep Guardiola could be the next coach of the Italian national team. The news has been confirmed by the president of the Italian Olympic Committee, Giovanni Malagò, who admitted that talks have taken place to appoint the Spanish coach as the head of the "Azzurri".

Guardiola left Manchester City this summer, ending a successful decade at the English club. During that time he won six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, five League Cups and one Champions League.

The Italy boss has been vacant since Gennaro Gattuso resigned in April, following the national team's failure to qualify for the World Cup for the third time in a row.

Italian media initially reported on contacts between the Italian Football Federation and Guardiola, while Malagò confirmed them in an interview, hinting that financial exceptions could also be made to secure the Spanish coach's signature.

"Financial exceptions have been made, exceptions that could be related to the name that is being talked about the most these hours, Pep Guardiola. For obvious reasons, concessions could be made, but that doesn't mean the deal is secure," said Malagò.
