Five members of a family have been rescued by the Border Police in Himara, after they were in danger of drowning at sea due to a defect in their boat and bad weather conditions. The incident was recorded yesterday evening, at around 22:30, when the Police were notified that several people who were on a boat near the beach of Jala were in urgent need of help.

Border Police services were immediately deployed with their vessel, which after searching the sea managed to locate the damaged vehicle.

On board were a married couple and their three children. The five were transported to the Himara Border Crossing Point and, according to police, were in good health.

The family members thanked the Border Police officers for the quick and professional intervention that provided assistance in a dangerous situation.

The Border Police appeals to all vacationers and boat drivers to respect safety rules, use protective equipment and avoid going out to sea during adverse weather conditions.
