Lushnje/ Suspected of raping a 27-year-old woman with mental health problems, 42-year-old wanted

A serious incident has been reported in Lushnja, where a 42-year-old man has been declared wanted by the Police, after he is suspected of having had sexual relations with a 27-year-old woman with mental health problems.

According to the Police, the young woman appeared at the Lushnja Police Station together with two family members and, in the presence of a psychologist, reported that on July 22, 2026, she was sexually assaulted by the 42-year-old man.

After receiving the report, the blue uniforms carried out investigative and procedural actions, declaring the citizen with the initials SM, 42 years old, resident of Lushnja, wanted. He is suspected of the criminal offense of "Sexual or homosexual relations with persons incapable of defending themselves."

Meanwhile, while the 27-year-old was giving statements at the police station, the police arrested her brother, the 32-year-old with the initials DY, in flagrante delicto. According to preliminary investigations, he is suspected of having set fire to the vehicle of the suspected perpetrator's mother, using fuel.

 

POLICE NOTIFICATION

A 42-year-old man is wanted on suspicion of having had sexual intercourse with a 27-year-old woman with mental health problems.  

A 27-year-old citizen with mental health problems appeared at the Lushnja Police Station, along with 2 of her family members, and reported in the presence of a psychologist that on 22.07.2026, a citizen had forcibly had sexual intercourse with her. 

Immediately after the report, the Police services carried out investigative and procedural actions in the case and subsequently declared citizen SM, 42 years old, resident of Lushnja, wanted for the criminal offense of "Sexual or homosexual relations with persons incapable of protecting themselves".    

Also, following the actions, citizen DY, 32 years old, the brother of the 27-year-old, was arrested in flagrante delicto, after, while his sister was reporting the crime at the Police Station, he is suspected of having burned the vehicle of the mother of the 42-year-old, the suspected perpetrator, with fuel.  

Intensive work continues to capture citizen SM and document the circumstances of the case.  

The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier, for further action.
