The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of intervening in the plenary session to block territorial reform, claiming that his goal is to manipulate the elections through changes to the administrative map.

In a statement to the media after the end of the session, Berisha said that a year-long process, supported by international partners, has been "buried", while he also made strong accusations about the way in which, according to him, protesters outside the Parliament were treated.

In this parliament today, Edi Rama buried the territorial reform. And the de facto reform, of extraordinary importance for Albanian citizens.
He buried a serious year of work, strongly supported by the international community both financially and from the state budget.
He buried it because he wants at all costs, not a reform in the interest of citizens, but a reform in the interest of manipulating elections and stealing votes at all costs.

And now he has nothing left but the peaceful revolt of all the municipalities, with which he will erase them from the face of the earth on his map and others that he is trying to influence the electoral record.
Finally, we condemn once again the animalistic behavior towards the protesters. You saw how dozens of protesters were savagely attacked with heavy incendiary devices, never used before.
Dozens, dozens of them ended up in hospitals, injured and seriously damaged as you saw them being taken away by ambulances. We are following their situation with great concern.
In addition, I would like to add that there are some protesters who have been key exponents, who have remained silent.
They are no longer visible. The rumors are that extraordinary pressures and great threats have been exerted against them.
So, for all of this, we condemn with the utmost force the stance of Edi Rama and the drug majorities towards peaceful protesters.
