3500 signatures against, but Balla does not rule out the merger of the Prrenjas

The Territorial Reform has brought debates not only between the SP and the DP, but also with citizens who have said "no" to the majority's scenario for the merger of several municipalities.

In 48 hours, 3,500 citizens of Prrenjas have signed a petition opposing the merger with the municipality of Librazhd as part of the Territorial Reform. However, Taulant Balla, when asked by journalists about the opposition of the residents, did not deny the implementation of the scenario.

"To tell you the truth, I don't see any problem because nothing is going to change, the offices will definitely be in Prrenjas, all the services will be there, nothing changes, but they become stronger municipalities," said Balla.

The socialist MP even recalled that Librazhdi and Prrenjasi were one, bringing it up as an argument in front of the residents who have already signed the petition.

"Librazhdi and Prrenjasi were together. So, everyone knows that Librazhdi and Prrenjasi were a local unit, it was once called the Librazhd district. So all of the 11 administrative units that made it up were one part, the district was separated. But still, let's give ourselves time, and I would call on my friends there to calm down," declared Balla.

The journalist brought to Balla's attention the statement made about Mirdita when he said that he would not merge with any other municipality, but the socialist deflected, claiming that history for the two provinces speaks differently.

"Historically, Mirdita has not been with Lezha, nor with... Librazhdi and Prrenjasi have been together," said Balla.
